Supply Chain Sustainability

In the production of fruit juice concentrates, we process apples and berries in Europe and China. We pay particular attention to the fact that we increasingly source raw materials directly from farmers, avoiding long and unnecessary supply chains. We attach great importance to long-term, trust-based partnerships and support the training of future, self-employed farmers.

Integrated Plantation Project

Since 2000 in Hungary, we have been supporting local farmers in the production of resistant apple varieties that require around 60% to 80% less pesticide to cultivate than conventional varieties. In addition to financial support for tree replanting and ongoing advice during the growing season, farmers also receive purchase guarantees, which we reward with a price premium. In 2007, another contract-building project was launched in Poland.

In the field of contract farming, Austria Juice uses the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) offered by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI).

Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI)

AUSTRIA JUICE has been involved since 2014 as an active member of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI). SAI offers industrial refiners helpful tools to evaluate and document good environmental and social criteria in the agricultural supply chain.

Environmental- and Energy Aspects in Production

Because of our proximity to primary agricultural production, we are committed to the conservation of all natural resources.

We meet this goal through the following measures:

a unique, almost complete recovery of raw materials and by-products.
the use of low-emission primary energy sources and energy-efficient production technologies.
the use of the water bound in the fruit to further reduce the fresh water requirements of our processes.

Ours is a demanding quality philosophy: continuous improvement in the processes and the quality of our products. These fundamentals make it possible to manufacture our products to only the highest quality standards. And that's not all: quality leadership in the processing of agricultural raw materials is our goal.

As a member of the Sustainable Juice Covenant (SJC), we are committed to making the sourcing, production, and trade of fruit and vegetable juices, purees, and their concentrates 100% sustainable by 2030.

Code of Conduct

Our Austria Juice Code of Conduct is applied across our international locations and summarises the basic rules of our coexistence, both for internal cooperation and for our behaviour towards stakeholders. We also expect our suppliers and business partners to comply with these social standards in order to form the best relationships.

Compliance with laws and regulations is a cornerstone of sustainable business for Austria Juice. The Group-wide compliance management system comprises the following areas:
